Frequently Asked Questions

How do products stay fresh during delivery?

All chilled products are sent out in insulated boxes with chiller packs so they will stay cool and fresh until delivered. We recommend you refrigerate upon receipt. Most of our ambient products do not require chilling and so will be sent in pouches or cardboard boxes

What if I’m not in when my box is delivered?

No worries. We ask for a safe place where your box can be left if you’re not in and our chiller packs will keep everything nice and cool for 48hrs

How long do the contents of my box keep for?

All meats and cheeses that are sliced and cut to order are sent out in premium condition and we recommend assembling the contents within a week of receipt so it all tastes as best as it can.

However, best before dates for our sliced meats are 14 days and a guide to our cheese is as follows

Soft cheese - up to 5 days
Blue cheese - up to 5 days
Hard cheese - up to 2 weeks

Our whole and ambient products will have longer use by dates which will be displayed on the packaging

Is there any allergy information I need to be aware of?

Many of our meats contain nitrates and nitrites and some products contain sulphites. Our sourdough crispbreads contain gluten and our piccalilli contains mustard. All cheeses are dairy. Our production kitchen also handles nuts. If you have any allergies, to be on the safe side, it's best to email in at paul@thecharcuteriebox.co.uk
